Even with all this groovy ’70s eye candy dotting the L.A. nightscape, it’s Chimneysweep in the Valley that remains the real deal—a bar founded in the late ’70s, and it hasn’t changed since. This Sherman Oaks lounge has everything you’d expect: a diamond-tuck black vinyl banquette, wood-paneled walls, a curvy bar with amber and yellow light fixtures over it, and an original fireplace capped by a giant black flue. Because no matter how much cash and design savvy you have, there are some things that can’t be imitated.
