College-adjacent barhopping: USC

Nestled in Exposition Park (aka Sketchville), USC kids don’t have many choices in the immediate neighborhood, but that doesn’t get in the way of boozing.

901 Bar and Grill
The “9-0” (as true Trojans call it) is one of the only late-night drinking establishments within stumbling distance of USC. The bar bustles regularly with coed cuties and alums watching the game on the plethora of TV screens.

Seven Grand
The collection of over 200 whiskeys will get you higher than your roommate’s GRE score at this Downtown bar. USC kids mix with the loft dwellers and Eastside party people in a room decorated with taxidermy, plaid prints and pool tables.

Babe's & Ricky’s Inn
Music loving Trojans groove here on Monday nights along with old fogeys and blues junkies. While living Blues legend Mickey Champion entertains with her stop-you-in-your-tracks voice, you can also chow down on soul food for just $8. Thursdays you'll find open jam sessions, and the weekends get rockin’ with the house band, Mighty Balls of Fire.

The Lab Gastropub
This beer bar provides a welcome diversion from classes, and sobriety, for USC students and anyone else who finds their way to this Galen Center-adjacent bar and restaurant. The space is science lab chic, with classroom style common tables, bookshelf lined walls and comfy, professor's office style leather chairs. The Lab offers 40 beers including Trojan Blonde and The Lab Amber Lager, brewed especially for the bar by San Diego's Karl Strauss brewery and served in beakers.
