David Judaken, the owner
David Judaken has opened some of the most successful Hollywood nightclubs of the last decade, including Mood, Opera and Crimson and Garden of Eden. His clubs have all had little things in common, including A-list clientele, trendy dress codes, and eye-grabbing interior design. With the hype also comes the long lines and tough bouncers, not to mention the growing chorus of disillusioned clubbers fed up with the impersonal feel of the "typical Hollywood nightclub." Judaken's latest project was designed to bring back that personal touch. "There's nothing better than a party at home. With the materials that we used, and the concept that we’ve put together, we really nailed it." Judaken wants MyHouse to tell a story of a successful bachelor, letting loose with close friends after a long day. "We're creating that fantasy were everyone can come enjoy an amazing home in the Hollywood Hills. It's a place where people can enjoy it that much more than a normal home." Tony Daly, the partner and promoter
MyHouse partner and promoter Tony Daly wants to see the party vibe resemble “the amazing house parties the Hollywood Hills are notorious for.” What with the prime location, spacious yard and “homey” furnishings at MyHouse, we suspect he’ll get his wish. “We set out to actually build a house that has the ability to host big parties,” Daly says. And with all the buzz surrounding this big house party, they’ll have no trouble getting someone to DJ. “We essentially have our pick of the litter. Everyone wants to spin this venue.” Because it’s such a departure from his previous gigs at nightclubs like Crimson and Opera, Daly expects a much more intimate feel. “We are planning on having a dinner party at our restaurant, East, and then everyone going back to MyHouse for Monday night Movies, or Guitar Hero Tuesdays. During the summer, some of the weekend promotions can start earlier and utilize the backyard/Jacuzzi area. You’ll see just about every type of party possible at MyHouse.”

Dodd Mitchell, the designer
One has to wonder if designer Dodd Mitchell understands the concept of “limitations.” He’s designed some of the hottest restaurants in L.A., luxury yachts in Florida, a church in Cabo San Lucas, and hotels all over the world. After taking L.A. by storm (he designed the Thompson Beverly Hills and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel), Mitchell moved his home to Cabo. When he moved back to L.A., he did some house shopping in Trousdale Estates, where he laid eyes on a house that would become the model for MyHouse. “He actually made an offer on that house, but decided not to move forward with it,” says owner David Judaken. “There are a number of architectural elements that emulate that specific home.” Mitchell has a reputation for building award-winning venues, then moving on without even enjoying the limelight at the grand opening, making him the ultimate paradox in Hollywood. Perhaps the intimate connection to this venue will keep him around. In any event, it’s a chance to throw a party in a house that was sexy enough for a man with such celebrated taste in design.
