Certainly you've seen Aaron Castle around L.A.—if you're at the right places. This shaggy-haired redhead is in the business of partying. Relatively new to the game, the 23-year-old started co-promoting packed-out parties Little Pedro's, now known as
Bordello, in the Summer of ’06. Before Castle knew it, Stephen Hauptfuhr, a veteran in the indie party scene, asked him to join his team, and Tik Tok events was born. The first Tik Tok bash was for avant-garde jewelry line Goddollars, and it drew more than 2,000 people; the subsequent parties drew even more. What’s Castle’s secret? “I put a lot of emphasis on the feeling and aesthetics of the parties,” he says. “I feel a lot of the time when you go out, that gets forgotten.” He’s also big on vibe. “I don’t care how pretty you are. If you are going to sit in a chair and bum everyone out all night, stay at home.” That’s a pretty sweet party recipe for Hard, arguably
the New Year’s Eve party. Not only has Tik Tok hooked up with Dim Mak, Modular and Nitrus to help throw the party in the Art District downtown, but he’ll also be DJ-ing alongside headliners Justice, Peaches and 2 Live Crew. Castle says, “We are also putting a lot of energy into the look. We’ll have Cirque aerial acrobatics all night, visuals and projections.” Now if only he could turn this into his full-time job.
