I was at the club the Friday after Thanksgiving 2008. One thing this place has going for it is its view of the surrounding downtown view, especially at night time. Dance floor is too small, but you do get a good dance workout from the retro-techno type music -- not really my taste in music for a club scene. More up-to-date music everyone can relate to would be ideal. Would I go back? I would if there was more variety of music. If I go back for my birthday, there'll have to be music from the 90's to date...definitely. Would I recommend this club to others? I probably would, again, if the music was more attractive at best.

I liked the set up of the place, however, too may seating areas were reserved which made finding somewhere to sit a littel more problematic for my taste. And we were there for a good while, and whomever that area was reserved for, they never showed up.

The club is more suited for the 20's to early 30's crowd, in my opinion -- not generally for an older crowd looking for a good club scene for the night. With a few minor adjustments to the DJ's music selection, I think I may go back.

The Horrible night.

I went to Takami Restaurant for dinner with 25 friends. We were at the lounge area and had a nice time. Around 10:00pm, we walked over to Elevate and had no trouble getting in. The place was empty! Downstairs, 12 of my friends were waiting in line for two hours and only 10 got in by midnight, plus they had to pay to get in. That night, the VIP sections were mostly empty. The staff’s attitude was horrible. The purpose of paying lots of money for a drink is to have good service and a fun time. We were there to celebrate and have a great time but instead we were all very agitated. They had so many people waiting to get in and if you ask me that’s bad business. Those people could have been inside buying drinks. The DJ did not know how to mix music. I was so disappointed. Drinks stop at 1:30 and you’re out before 2:00 am. On their website they claim to stay open until 3 am and that’s simply not true.

Bouncers need to be fired

So I've been to this place twice. The first time was when it first opened and it pretty much sucked. The second time was really the same experience. The crowd looks like a bunch of people who can't get in anywhere else. There is this one bouncer that really needs to get a life. He think he works for the TOP club/lounge in LA,when in reality, no top people really come to Elevate. He has a massive attitude issue, and even though we got in no questions asked, he still gave us attitude. Both times we went we left at 1230. Its truly a waste of time.

Dont waste your time

I have been to many clubs/lounges within LA and this one was just an awful experience.

Do not bother coming here if you dont purchase their bottle service. I went with a group of girls one time (im a male, about 6 girls in the group) during their grand opening month. It was supposed to be free cover due to the special event. We went relatively early (about 930pm), got in line and made our way to the front. Close to about 40 ppl were still waiting in line behind us and the bouncers refused to let us in. I tried talking to them and seeing what the situation was. They said nothing except for the fact that they had to let "people with tables in first". By that time, the table service line was empty for close to 45min.

We waited for 2 hours outside before we finally decided to leave, along with 3/4 of the people in line that were also frustrated and P.O.'d. What a great PR promotion that was...

Another group of my friends decided to go on another night, not heeding my warnings, and decided to "check the place out". Guess what happened? They waited a few hrs before leaving in frustration as well.

So, if you are looking for a night of aggrovation, anger, frustration and angst then knock yourself out and try out Elevate. But you'll have a much better time spending your drink money elsewhere in LA.
