I can't say enough good things about The Edison and the staff is amazing and friendly. The Edison is definitely a sight to see, great attention to detail and the old 20's flicks playing on the walls is a nice touch. You must try the Lobster CornDogs! Reserve the Boiler Room! it was awesome too!

Staff was Rude

The Edison is an amazing space visually and is worth going for that alone. I have been two times now an am not sure I will return however. The staff is very rude and obnoxious. We were there for a Cirque Du Soleil type event and the staff kept moving people around, telling us where we could stand, where we could or could not sit. There were very rude and pompous, not at all courteous. They acted like it was our great privilege to be there as opposed to our being paying customers. The food and drinks are very overpriced and the music is "club" type music which does not suit the aesthetics of the space and was WAY too loud. This could be such an amazing venue but unfortunately the experience does not match the space...

It's the place itself that matters most here.

Here, it's all about the the space, the architecture, the lighting, the art, the machinery, the artifacts. Oh, and the "furnace." (Don't ask, just go.) The Edison is a throwback to the industrial age, to the roaring '20's, to simpler times. Throughout the place, they use vintage unfrosted light bulbs with the amber filaments that give off that yellowish old-world glow. Most of the furniture (and there's a LOT of it, as this place is huge) is of the rich wood-and-leather, brass-tacked variety. Ceilings are 30 feet high. Depending on the night, jazz, Sinatra, Bennett and other old standards will croon from the loudspeakers. Old b&w silent films play on various screens above you.

The crowd is a healthy mix of all ethnicities in LA. It's a unifying place. Most of the ladies show up dressed to the nine's, so you boys had better dust off that blazer if you wanna measure up. (And by the way, the entrance involves descending down an exposed staircase into the center of the club. Everyone can see you coming. Just a little food for thought.)

And it is, of all things, much easier to get to than most popular LA hangs. Just plan on getting there by 9pm and you won't be waiting in a line. It's literally 1 minute away from the 101's Broadway exit. Plus, $5.00 lot parking and free street parking is available all around. Try THAT on the Sunset Strip. Heck, try GETTING TO the Sunset Strip.

Plus, the Edison is the kind of place that could charge a hefty cover, but does not. Instead, you'll pay for it at the bar, with drinks at above-average prices. But hey, if you're not a heavy drinker, you're still ahead of the game, right?

In summation, it's the best bar space in Los Angeles that I've been to.
