They've got soul

The cast and crew are still the same: DJs Miles and Egon spin funk and soul records alongside special guests like KCRW’s Jeremy Sole. And, given that Egon co-owns Stones Throw Records, a re-issue label, he gets to claim the newest '60s and '70s cuts before anyone else even has a chance to buy them!
The regulars haven't gone anywhere either. Sure, there are your usual dose of be-Polo’d bridge-and-tunnel club kids that will go anywhere on a Saturday night; but the core group is a stylish bunch of multi-culturals inspired by the modish look of the Northern Soul era: dapper suits, skinny ties, Biba-esque mini skirts. They look especially foxy against the backdrop of old 45s projected on the walls.
Unlike Star Shoes, which was basically all dance floor, Jimmy’s Lounge has a tiny dance space. That’s cool for the dance-a-phobic—now they can listen to the music while smoking cigarettes on the back porch—but for the dance-a-holics, it’s kind of a bummer that there's isn't a bit more space.
Where: Jimmy’s Lounge
When: Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Sounds: Expect to hear a lot of James Brown as well as some cool Afro-Cuban music.
Drinks: Jimmy’s only has six beers—and they’re all pale. Asking for a Newcastle or Guinness will get you a funny look and a Heineken. Just go ahead and get the vodka Red Bull. You’re going to need it if you dance.
