It’s easy to see why Tatou is perennially packed. Though the cover to the nightclub/supper club/dance club can be steep, the clientele —who come with perfectly ironed Armani Exchange dress shirts (men) and perfectly coiffed hair (still men) and leave sweaty and smiling—seem to be getting their money’s worth. Top 40 heavy DJed sets (with a soft spot for Akon) get the young crowd bumpin’ and grindin’ as some seriously sexy go-go dancers shake their moneymakers in Princess Leia-approved bikinis.
Tatou is also home to a host of secret shows, which in weeks past have included performances by the Black Eyed Peas and 2 Live Crew. The mega-club also features a smaller, more intimate space perfect for weekly salsa lessons, a balcony with a stunning view of Downtown, a secret VIP room in the basement, and a rentable recording studio. What, no Cinnabar?
Drinks: How many bars can they fit inside one supper club? It seems like every time you turn around in Tatou, a new bar materializes. Expect strong, premium cocktails at strong, premium prices.
Crowd: A predominantly Asian crowd bumps and grinds their hearts – and shiny shirts – out on the main dance floor. In the smaller, more intimate room, DJed Latin music brings out the inner-Enrique Iglesias in salsa-loving couples.
Décor: The oversized dance floor is flanked by two giant preserved palm trees and a disco ball the size of the Death Star.
Food: The only thing better than half-naked dancers gyrating a few feet from your face? Half-naked dancers gyrating in your face while you’re eating dinner. During the weekly burlesque show Harlottique, Cal-Asian cuisine is dished out from in-house restaurant Wokano. Just don’t fill up on too much eye candy before your meal.
