Sheddy’s is like the pub version of a high-class bordello. The dark, seductive ambience and the deep reds of the decor make it easy for patrons to lose themselves in the company of others, whether it be a friend or…someone who is perhaps more than just a friend.

If you’re there to share an intimate evening, you can choose to sit at one of the small, heavy wooden tables running along the south wall.  Each of these tables is built for two and situated partially behind red curtains to keep away any prying eyes. For the small groups meeting to play catch-up, there’s padded bench seating near the front window, as well as a wooden pew across from the beautiful teak bar.

At most bars, Chimay is an exotic delight, but at Sheddy’s, ordering a Chimay is like choosing the missionary option. There are three beers on tap—Murphy’s Stout, Maudite (from Quebec) and Abita Amber (from Louisiana)—and each will set you back $5. If you’re in the mood for a brew you’ve never heard of, ask the bartender for a recommendation and rest assured you’ll receive a high-quality (though possibly high-priced) selection. Wine more your thing? The list is quite respectable, and leans on Spanish selections—a nod to the bar's former incarnation as Bodega de Cordova.

Stay tuned:
The bar plans to offer cheese and crudités platters in the near future.

Smoker’s delight: There’s a large smoking patio out back, just in time for those warm summer evenings.
