Low Pretense on the Sunset Strip?

Saturday night on the Strip isn't where you expect to find no cover, no attitude, reasonably priced drinks or the ability to maintain a conversation without shouting directly into someone's ear. So being inside the cozy confines of Libertine can almost be disorienting, as you feel like you're at a pretty chill house party only to look outside and, boom, there's Chateau Marmont. And you don't even have to go across the street and crash a bungalow party for a slice of Hollywood history; apparently Charlie Chaplin used to live where Libertine now stands. The vibe is no accident, as it's enforced by the entire staff. A lot of credit is due, then, to owner Prem Joshi for not just conforming to the same tired club cliches.
