Calling this tiny club on the west end of the Sunset Strip legendary is an extreme understatement, given it's history with rock icons like Led Zeppelin, the Doors and David Bowie and the exploits they got up to there back in the hedonistic '70s. Today, it's been revamped into one of L.A.'s top spots for music showcases, most recently featuring such buzzed-about acts like Amy Winehouse and Peter, Bjorn & John. Drinks are pricey, the space is crowded and the clientele equal parts industry, fanatics and the more than occasional celeb (Bruce Willis was seen full-on making out with Courtney Love at the Amy Winehouse show). But it's all worth it to see these sonic luminaries in such close quarters. Parking can be a bitch (read: expensive), and you don't even want to attempt street parking as the entire area is permit-only for local residents. Suck it up and pay to stash your car in a nearby lot. But shop around - prices on Sunset can vary from obscene ($20) to ridiculously affordable ($5). Plus you can kill time before the show at the always entertaining Hustler superstore right down the street.
