So ive been to O'hara's / Maloneys on Campus so much that i think that its time for me to write a review of the place
O'Haras is a bar located in westwood, it accomodates the 21+ crowd with a full sized bar. O'haras in my opinion is the bar to go to if you are a UCLA student since it is very local and probably with in walking distance of campus housing. it is located on the corner of Gayley and Weyburn. This place has been around for long time supposedly carrying different names (Maloneys on Campus) O'haras is the newest name as it was changed under new management more recently. Fellow sources say that O'haras is better than what Maloney's ever was due to the poor management and upkeep of the bar at that time. But enough with History lets talk about the experience.
When arriving to O'haras on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday night you may be welcomed by a long line to get into the place (unless you arrive super early). depending on the night you may need to wait sometime to get into the bar, and seeing the girls come in and out is just a teaser to what may await inside. The Doormen / Bouncers may be the strictest around, (even comparable to Hollywood or Sunset) so you may want to have you I.D. ready at the door. Once inside you will see a bar set-up that may remind you of something you would see on Cheers. The Drink Bar is in the center of everything leaving a big circle for you to wonder around for hours wheter you are drunk, buzzed or sober. When you are tired of walking around you can have a seat for little bit and socialize with some Local Pregraduate students.
Now i want to describe the mood the best i can for you, it is dark but not too dark, and depending on what night you go you can find a DJ playing music. Now the music is one of the weird things about this place as the DJ (if you want to call him that) carelessly mixes in and out of different genres for instance from kanye west to journey then into Lil Jon. But it often does not make a difference as people still dance to what ever is playing, you can imagine it as bar and Semi-Club.
The Demographic of the people attending O'haras is mostly White / Causcasian and a small number of Hispanics. The Restroom is so-so it is not disgusting but its not elegant at the same time, nothing out of the norm for a bar i guess.
The drinks are appropiately prices with Pint sized beers costing about 8 dollars and mixed drinks varying from 6 dollars to 8 dollars, you can find a wide selection of domestic brews and even Imports.
Going to O'Haras would definately leave you in excitement to return again,
