Hey, Banana Split Sundaes—there’s a new ice cream party on Sunday nights! And just like your bash at LAX, there are free treats for all. "We bought an ice cream cart," says Joaquin Vasquez, the night's DJ and promoter. "I'm kind of the ice cream man. I go around the club and pass out ice cream."

Club kids know Vasquez as the resident DJ at all-ages and 18-and-over clubs such as Dance, Genre and Bang, so it's ironic that this kiddie-style party is actually for the 21-and-over crowd. Not that he thinks this weekly promotion is any better than his other nights: "We're not looking to be super-hip or cool," he says, adding that clubbers let their hair down over games of Ms. Pac-Man. Even the DJs are encouraged to come as they are. You know DJ Paparazzi? He goes by his real name (Cesar) when he spins at Ice Cream.

And unlike the music know-it-alls at Vasquez's other club nights—leave it to an all-ages crowd to introduce him to the Ting Tings—clubbers here seem less snobbish about what they'll dance to. Sure, they have asymmetrical haircuts and tight black hoodies, but they're not above doing the Macarena between Michael Jackson and Prince classics. We’re sure the $3 drinks don't hurt.
