Indie hipsters have taken refuge in this bar’s anti-WEHO, all-inclusive scene since the late 90s. Still Akbar is anything but passé. While its most well attended weekly events might be free dance nights that take place on Fridays and Saturdays, its weekly CraftNight—held on Wednesdays—offers more wholesome fun than you can swing a hot glue gun at. Participants are encouraged to dress in drag as women of a certain age—many of whom bear a striking resemblance to Martha Stewart—and make crafts like paper bag hand puppets and potato stamped "Thank You" cards.
