Colorado Bulldog
The Colorado Bulldog covers the entire family of creamy, milk-based chocolate/coffee drinks: Russians, Mudslides and so forth. The origin of the Colorado Bulldog’s name seems a mystery, but we’d like to imagine it goes something like this: “Bulldog” because of the drink's tawny, brownish color, and “Colorado” because gulping one of these replicates the sensation of hiking through a crisp, pine-tree-laden Rocky Mountain valley…then retiring to an upscale Aspen lounge, where you meet a lonely heir or heiress…
The taste
Like chocolate milk for grown-ups, with the Coca Cola adding a caramely, ice-cream-floaty sensation. Very smooth and drinkable, unless you are lactose- (or 1970s-) intolerant.
The recipe
1 ounce vodka
1 ounce Kahlúa
3.5 ounces milk
Splash of Coca-Cola
Combine vodka, Kahlua and milk in shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into a tall glass filled with ice. Add a splash of Coca-Cola.
