Sloe Comfortable Screw Up Against the Wall
This name had to have been the apogee of sophomoric ’70s naughtiness. The SCSUATW features sloe gin, a red liqueur flavored with sloe berries that has as much to do with actual gin as grapefruit has to do with grapes. The naughty name obviously draws drinkers attracted to overbearing innuendo: We guess some cool dude would saunter up to a pretty young lady—be she a patron or the bartender—and ask, “How about a slow, comfortable screw up against the wall?” What percentage of women would respond positively to such an inquiry? How about a drink called Decent Honest Conversation at a Table or Booth (DHCAATOB)? Isn't that what's really going to lead to sex anyway?
The taste
Some will find sloe gin to be pleasantly sweet, while others will find it cloying and gross. The SCSUATW is essentially a very sweet Screwdriver with a hint of licorice.
The Recipe

3/4 ounce Southern Comfort
1/2 ounce sloe gin
1/4 ounce Galliano
3 ounces orange juice
Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake well. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice.
