Basque burned down in the middle of the night! Goa closed after a few months of operation! That was nothing in comparison to the recent drama at El Coyote. When news reports broke that Marjorie Christoffersen, then a manager at the restaurant and bar, donated $100 to support Prop 8, El Coyote’s largely gay and gay-friendly clientele waged a boycott and suggested the Mexican spot serve its margaritas to the Mormons. Christoffersen is currently on a voluntary leave of absence and her husband told the L.A. Times that business at El Coyote is down about 30 percent.
