The newborn Barnsdall Art Market is the adorable offspring of Julie Rasmussen, force behind the "A Little Birdy Told Me" weekly art guides. Which is to say: she knows her cool L.A. artists, and she's gathering them for a quasi-monthly, open-air art orgy at Barnsdall Art Park, open for business again this Sunday, Oct. 21.
That hilly plot of land behind Rite-Aid on Vermont is a tranquil, lovely space, with a theater, a view of the Hollywood Hills, and an original Frank Lloyd Wright house (which may fuel Brangelina's reported passion for the place.) This weekend, Barnsdall gets ever-lovelier as scores of underground artists set up cute little booths to offer their latest creations, from original paintings to hand sewn textiles and bizzare screenprints.
Stop by Sunday between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. to shop in the breeze, take a gander at the park and browse at your leisure. If you really want to get into the spirit of the season, you can head there in a scarf and some mittens, clutching a cup of hot cider—but you'll probably be sweating. Which would be gross.
