Months ago, during the gestation of a baby Beta Metromix, we started a Myspace page in a bid to be less lonely. We were tickled when our first friend request was not from a sheister urging us to download FREE FREE FREE ringtones, but rather a lovely little gaggle of Seattle musicians called Mulally.

They mentioned a date far on the horizon, and said they’d be coming to town. We recommended a few good burrito joints.

Cut to now: seeing the date approach, I recently took in an earful of this Mulally bunch. People, our new little buddies effin’ rock. Piano-heavy folk-pop, dusty drum marches and haunting vocals build a lush sound, and lyrics are both sharp and sad at once. I listened to their tune “Downtown” on repeat today, and tried not to infuriate co-workers with my urge to stomp along.

They've embarked on a West coast tour, camping along the Oregon coast before hitting L.A. for a week. Catch them during a free music night at Echo Curio, the delightful gallery/music space on that golden strip of Sunset between the Echo and Little Joy. Maybe they'll even hit Barragan's for margaritas and burritos, as recommended.
