What, you’ve never crocheted trash before? It appears it’s time you took a lesson. Track 16 Gallery is showing a lovely installation of knitted coral reefs and plenty of mind fodder about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a massive mound of rubbish swirling itself into a disgusting knotted island in the northern Pacific. Whoopee! Go school yourself on this malevolent vortex of plastic rubbish by taking an afternoon session on weaving baggies, and then stick around for a chat by the Algalita Marine Research Foundation’s Charles Moore, who will alert you to the evils of plastics and the ways you can save the planet. More importantly, we want to know how much apartments rent for on an island of trash. They’ve got to be cheaper than Echo Park, right?
