Sometimes we like to pretend it’s winter. We also like free concerts and celebrities. Hop over to Beverly Hills on Saturday, when the streets will be filled with less aggro honking and more holiday cheer as Rodeo Drive is ceremoniously lit with twinkly chandeliers and snowflakes by none other than Nicole Richie and her baby daddy, Joel Madden of Good Charlotte. Stick around for a free show by indie rockers the 88 and R&B chanteuse Kreesha Turner, then escape the rug rats and stagger next door to the Beverly Wilshire Hotel for a specialty Melted Snowflake cocktail before the post-ceremony fireworks burst from the hotel rooftop. (Note: If this event isn’t indie enough for you, head over to the Eighteen Thirty art space in Echo Park for an edgy fashion sale.)

Unicef is my choice for giving this holiday season. They are helping children who need so much.
