Squeeze into those skinny jeans, bust out that American Apparel top and don’t forget the fedora: September 28th marks the start of the first annual Swerve Festival, a three-day celebration of all things film, art, music and (wait for it…) action sports.

The Swerve Festival’s three-day music line-up includes so-indie-it-hurts performances by rockers We Are Scientists, The Black Angels and Foreign Born, with requisite grooves by L.A. nightlife staples DJ Franki Chan and DJ Paparazzi.

On the film front, Swervefest is home to the West Coast premiere of Anton Corbijn’s much-anticipated Joy Division biopic "Control." There’ll also be a program of short films and a screening of skateboarding doc—and winner of Metromix’s first annual Worst Title Pun award—"The Man Who Souled The World." Wow.

And if listening and watching just ain’t Swerve-y enough for you, the fest also features hands-on activities like CreateAskate, where you can design your own custom deck, a custom T-shirt silkscreen station (Swerve Hit + Run) and the Get TRASHed Recycling Store, where environmentally-conscious partiers can recycle your bottles and cans in exchange for DVDs, iPod speakers and organic jeans.

Organic jeans are like normal jeans, but without all the trans fat.

When: September 28-30, 2007

Where:
Barnsdall Art Park, The Echoplex and Vista Theatre.

Why: Swervefest, Lobsterfest, Neighborhood Fest, whatever—we just like our festivals.
