Oh joy! Art collective Finishing School is staging a free, if odd interactive art party at MOCA, starting with a lesson on how to build a your own foxhole radio out of razor blades and pencil lead. Then they’ll send you out on the streets to pick up radio transmissions of other peoples’ pre-recorded messages about joy. Sound random? Let us school you on the military colloquialism “finding joy”: It refers to “the successful establishment of radio contact on the battlefield.” Only instead of a war zone, you’ll be in Downtown L.A., and instead of getting shot at, you’ll be listening to pure happiness!
250 S. Grand Ave., Downtown; 7 p.m.-10 p.m.; free
