Stroll through Downtown’s galleries during the monthly art walk and pop into Bert Green Fine Art to gander at bicoastal musician and illustrator Dame Darcy’s original work from her latest book, Gasoline: A Rock and Roll Apocalyptic Fairy Tale, which she describes as a rock opera in book form. Stark illustrations and off-the-wall prose delve into such topics as the environmentalist principles of pagans and fairies. Expect rabid fans of Darcy’s comic series Meat Cake to be lined up waiting for an inscription, as well as plenty of puzzled art-walkers wondering which universe the eccentric Dame is visiting from.
