Allow us to settle into a wingback chair, chomp a pipe and pinpoint what exactly has gone wrong with humanity: Trash-talking blogger Perez Hilton comes to mind. The self-titled Queen of All Media has built an empire out of petty, venomous attacks on celebrities; fueled the world’s sad, vapid obsession with the famous; and apparently (co-)written a book about (what else?) being famous. He’ll be on hand to sign Perez Hilton: Red Carpet Suicide, which we’re hoping contains some insight into contemporary cultural icons, not just poorly drawn Photoshop genitals. If you have no interest in the gutter, head to the Writers Guild Theater to catch Tipping Point author Malcom Gladwell discuss the concept of success and his new book, Outliers, with public radio’s Kai Ryssdal.
