“Horton,” Chuck Jones, giclee on fine art paper, $225
Beezle-nut stew...beezle-nut stew...What it may be, only Dr. Seuss knew. What's that? Original artwork from “Horton Hears a Who!”
Yes indeedy, folks. Wonderful World Art Gallery in Culver City hosts an old-school show of animator Chuck Jones’ early Horton sketches and some of Dr. Seuss’ own “Unorthodox Taxidermy,” secret paintings and signed original drawings. No doubt timed to coincide with the CGI Jim Carrey release of the same story, this classic display of simpler animation is a mandatory stop for any Seuss aficionado, animation dork or adult yearning to learn about humanity through kid-themed narratives. Or, um, anyone wanting to score a “jungle-inspired refreshment,” aptly named the Who-tini.
