"There's Nothing Like Living in a Bottle," acrylic on wood (sold)
Credit:Sylvia Ji
Ohhh, Sylvia Ji.
She makes gorgeously creepy paintings of women who look like dream-world collisions of Kate Moss and a Día de los Muertos parade. She's a San Francisco transplant who now calls L.A. home. She sells out solo shows at the tender age of 26. And—as if this weren't enough to make an otherwise heterosexual events editor want to stalk her—she sometimes titles her paintings with Cat Power lyrics.
Sylvia Ji, we're in love with you.
Feast your peepers on these pieces, then swing by her solo show, "Por Vida," at the Corey Helford Gallery on Saturday, Feb. 23. Hopefully, you can play it cooler than we just did.
