New Orleans, we're totally rooting for you. That thing that happened with that hurricane and stuff was a total bummer. I know you're rebuilding the city, and Brangelina have moved there, but if you're OK with it, we're kind of going to celebrate Mardi Gras here in L.A. No, no—not "LA" like Louisiana. Like Los Angeles. I know, I'm sorry.
People, as much as New Orleans could use your tourism dollars, there are some pretty OK places to eat crawdads and take your shirt off here in ol' Los Angeles. Plus, when you wake up in a puddle of spilled alcoholic beverage, you'll be close to home and ready for the hypothetical 40 days of Lent you've supposedly geared up to observe. Here's where to get your debauchery on:
We're not ever as fat as we are on Fat Tuesday, right? Join the down-south celebrations in an atmosphere that's both charitable and nautical. If the idea of paying a cover steers you off-course, remember, it's going to the Make It Right, a post-Katrina fund for citizens of New Orleans (Brad Pitt's charity, to boot). Come early and stay late, as the doors open at 4 p.m. Tues., Feb. 5

The Gumbo Pot on the west end of the Farmers Market turns into a veritable, well, stew of old Cajuns, zydeco bands, people tossing around cheap necklaces and spontaneous conga lines. The likelihood of anyone filming "Girls Gone Wild VII" here is low, but you can get some pretty spicy crawdads and frosty beers. Tues., Feb. 5
P.S. Yes, we know that Mardi Gras and Super Tuesday fall on the same day this year. So if you have some free time between sucking crayfish brains and doing body shots, you might want to
vote next Tuesday. On second thought, why not vote
before you commence binge drinking? Yes, that's what we'd recommend.
