Hot & Bothered: frightening sight

Dear H&B,
My girl and I have been together about four months, and I have no complaints about our sex life, other than one thing: When she’s having her period, she’s horny as hell. Not me. I don’t consider myself a prude or anything, but the whole blood issue grosses me out. She says I’m being a big pussy, and her last boyfriend had no problem with doing her during rag time. What do I tell her?
Seeing Red

Dear SR,
You could try the sensitive approach and explain how the sight of blood—even though it’s a beautiful part of the female experience—is kryptonite to you. Maybe even embellish it with some kind of story about how you were damaged psychologically at an early age after witnessing your mother changing a Kotex during a heavy flow. You know, make it Freudian. Not only will it explain things, it could also get you sympathy points. On another note, what the hell is she doing comparing you to her last BF, particularly on intimate matters? Tell her if she was so impressed with his Mr. Natural/vampiric tendencies, she shouldn’t have left him. If, however, you don’t cotton to any of this profound advice and want to make it work, next time she’s on her period, just have sex in the shower. With the lights off.

She can wear Instead cups which collects the period to leave her relatively blood-free. The bonus is that you can still have sex without the mess.
