Dear H&B
I've been seeing this girl for almost six months now, and everything is fine. The only thing that sorta kinda bothers me is when I kiss her. It feels like I'm making out with a dude. What I mean by that is that she has a prickly/raspy upper lip. How would I go about asking her if she could do something about it?
Hirsute of Happiness
Dear HOH,
Everybody has their special sexual desires, and, providing those don’t hurt anyone, they should be respected. I’m sure there are some men out there who love the idea of kissing a woman who has a ’stache that would put Jeff Foxworthy’s hairy soup-strainer to shame. Having said all that, I agree that a prickly female upper lip can be somewhat disconcerting—for both parties. There are a few suggestions you might want to toss her way, in the sweetest possible fashion, of course. (In other words, don’t say, “When you’re done picking the pizza scraps out of your mustache, we need to talk.”)
Good old Nair is an option—though it’s hard to believe she is unaware of this—but the stuff can really burn if it’s left on too long. (You should see my back.) Also, some of my more hirsute female friends opt for weekly waxing. And there’s laser hair removal and electrolysis, the best hair-be-gone-forever solutions. These can be pricey, so if she’s willing to explore such depilatory options—and she may not be—why not be a good guy and offer to chip in?
Dying to get some? (Sex advice, that is.)
