Since 1929, rival schools USC and UCLA have battled on the football field for the pride and glory of being L.A.'s favorite team. Historically, the Trojans have more victories in the rivalry (42-28), though the Bruins claim the longest winning streak (eight years). Which team will win Saturday's game is anybody's guess, but we came up with our own way to settle the contest. We asked some experts who would win in a real-life fight to the death between a Trojan soldier or a California bruin. Would the ancient warrior slay the bear, or would he end up a mere snack? Find out in this week's Metromix.
Also this week, we chow down on some pub grub at Laurel Tavern, give the gift of style with our favorite fashion books this year, try to figure out what's wrong with the Smashing Pumpkins and check out the art deco decadence of Bar Delux.
