In this film-and-TV-obsessed town, it might seem a bit anachronistic for a group of young actors to make theater their first priority and their end goal. But, that's exactly what the 12 members of the Iama Theatre Company are all about. Of course, theirs is not the ordinary brand of stagecraft. Their series of Seven Deadly Plays (eached thematically based on a cardinal sin) demonstrates how they're making theater relevant, contemporary, and as exciting as anything you'll find on the big or small screen. This week in Metromix, we go backstage with the Iama crew to learn more.
Also this week, we investigate the curious case of Animal Collective, round up some cool gear for hitting the slopes, get a taste of sushi gone Latin at Provecho, and drink ourselves silly via local bar rituals. Find all this and more in the print edition of Metromix, available free all over L.A., and here on metromix.com.
