Hot indeed. And the helmet is awesome too! Some things just never go out of style.

My 4 year-old and I use the bus and trains on the weekend (Pasadena, L.A.) and I commute on my Vespa or motorcycle between Burbank and Pasadena. Neither mass transit or the bikes are as comfy as a car, but I'm saving money, spend more time actually communicating with my kid instead of seeing him in the rearview mirror, and NEVER sit in traffic during the week.

Great ideas, but LA has never been just the City? LA is a State of Mind. LA has great beach trains on Amtrak and Metrolink, with access to great surf spots and state beaches. Biking could be so much more successul, if Caltrans and MTA actually cared a put in safe and secure bike facilities at their stations. Transit could be so much more successful if we didn't have to wait 20 minutes at night to be stuffed like sardines on a one car Gold Line Train or a 2 Car Red Line train? Night service on MTA is infrequent and overcrowded, that's a shame, because it goes to some great places for dining and entertainment.
