7. "Short Circuit" (1986)

The robot: Johnny 5

The program:  A military robot with metal eyebrows gets struck by lightning, becomes sentient, and somehow befriends Ally Sheedy. Miscellaneous hilarity ensues as Johnny 5 learns what it means to be human and evades his military makers, very, very slowly.

The result: "Wall-E" essentially bites a big one off of this movie. Yet, there's one thing Disney doesn't have: the comedic powerhouse that is Steve Guttenberg.
