Big question: Will this insightful and enlightening documentary find the wide audience it deserves?
Catch it: Calmly and credibly making a case for how the Iraq war has been mismanaged from its inception, the film avoids petty partisanship with a rigorous focus on facts. It’s packed with information but highly accessible thanks to a brisk 100-minute running time and a strong, clear sense of purpose.
Skip it: If you’re only interested in what high ranking administration officials—like Vice President Dick Cheney or Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice—have to say about Iraq. Not surprisingly, they turned down requests to be interviewed for the film.
Bottom line: It doesn’t matter if you’re a news junkie or clueless about current events, you need to see this movie. If it succeeds in reaching a sizable audience, “No End in Sight” could very well enhance the general understanding of an era-defining issue.
Bonus: Although this is director Charles Ferguson’s first film, he has an impressive resume that includes positions with the Council on Foreign Relations and political think tank the Brookings Institution, as well as a Ph.D. in political science from MIT.
