Coachella: some practical advice
GETTING THERE

Coachella Express

This special (and free!) train will transport campers to and from the desert. Help save the earth and make new friends! Visit coachella.com/visitors/amtrak for more info.

Carpooling
Posse up with your friends to reduce your collective carbon footprint (and gas money). Better yet, find new travel buddies on the very active Coachella message boards and its MySpace page.

Timing is everything
Give yourself what might seem like an inordinate amount of time to get on site to see your favorite band. Those last couple of miles into the parking lot can take forever. Add security check-in and ticket-taking, and missing an act you’ve waited all year for can become a sad reality. The earlier, the better.

BEING THERE

Inter-Coachella communication

Phone service is spotty at Coachella, so we recommend walkie-talkies (which are allowed on-site), or simply having a set meeting point where you and your crew can meet up at predetermined times.

Keeping cool
It’s very important to stay hydrated. Props for teaming up with Global Inheritance to set up the Ten for One program, where attendees exchange 10 empty water bottles for a fresh one. Just as cool is the fact that water is only $2 a bottle, the same as it was in 1999!

Don’t overdo it
Get out of the fray and relax in the shade when you can. It’s a long day, so pace yourselves, peeps. Also, we all love a good buzz—but nobody loves the sloppy drunk puking on their shoes during My Morning Jacket.

For high roller
s
For the first time in Coachella history, 50 two-person luxury Safari Tents will be made available for the low, low price of... (gulp) $4,000. Each tent comes fully-furnished and complete with:

• air conditioning
• wall-to-wall carpet
• a king-size bed and linens
• all-access wristbands for backstage and VIP areas
• shuttle service within the venue
• a complimentary morning-after pill*

*not actually true

For low rollers
Would you prefer the ground, the floor or the back seat of a Yaris?
