Backstory: These British party people just want to make you dance and have as much fun as sonically possible. They already rocked the underground with two scene-making singles, the cutesy-pop skip of their debut, “Ice Cream,” and blazing nightlife anthem “The Bomb.” Led by the politically minded and effortlessly cool Tahita Bulmer, New Young Pony Club have got all the parts to make waves in America.

Why you should care: Taking their cues from such party-positive acts as the B-52s, ESG and Talking Heads, NYPC pay homage to their inspirations with quirky good-time dance beats laced with unexpected rhythms and lots of melody. “The Bomb” is one of the hottest dance tracks of the season, particularly the sizzling remix from French bad boys the Teenagers. They have something to say, but never forget that it’s about having a good time. File next to Bonde de Role, CSS and M.I.A.

Verdict: Any album that comes loaded with “Ice Cream” and “The Bomb” back to back is already bandana and stilettos above the pack. Toss in brand new tunes like the funky strut of “Get Lucky” and the slinky, Missing Persons purr of “Grey,” and there’s at least one girl dancing on a table at your next bash. You’ll want this one in your playlist for sure.

X-Factor: NYPC’s Modular label-mate Muscles has a debut single that’s also called “Ice Cream.” Although his song sounds more like TV On The Radio’s little brothers rolling on two hits of E after partying at a retro rave.
