It’s not that Sufjan Stevens has been dragging his heels since the second entry in his Fifty States project, “Illinois,” catapulted him to indie rock-star status; it’s that he’s been busy doing so many other things. The great state of New Jersey seems to be the next likely target of Stevens’ songwriting, but he’ll have to cut down on the collaborative projects, guest appearances, Christmas albums and short films to get it done.
