Bright Eyes stumps for Obama

Indie heartthrob Conor Oberst (aka Bright Eyes) has thrown his support behind Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama, opening for the Illinois senator at a stump speech in Iowa earlier this month. “I met the future president of the United States earlier today” he announced to the cheering crowd before launching into a short set that included the song “One Foot in Front of the Other,” reported the New York Observer. Oberst was a very public supporter of 2004 Democratic candidate John Kerry during that presidential campaign.
