When the California sun gets to be too much, you can always head to the fake snow-dusted log cabin that is the North Woods Inn. It's a relic of mid-century Americana that has somehow stuck around, offering meat-and-potatoes dining to one generation after another. The cheese bread is famous, and everything is hearty, to say the least: they're particularly proud of the "lumberjack-sized portions" they serve. And the Tiffany lamps.
