Yet another reason why Downtown is fast becoming the best place to party L.A., the Redwood scores on every turn. They may call it a maritime theme, but it's pirate city in this cool and cozy baaaarrrr/restaurant, where you expect to see Johnny Depp—or better yet Keira Knightley—in full costume come busting around the corner at any moment. Instead you'll run into a lively and disturbingly attractive mix of suits, hipsters (LOTS of hipsters) and the random tourist checking out the scene. You can make an evening of it, as the Redwood features a full dinner menu loaded with goodies like fish and chips, grilled N.Y. steak and the very popular mac and cheese. Then move on to the bar area, where if you're lucky, Carrie will pull you a Peroni beer on draft (especially if you say please) and regale you with tales of her hometown, Baltimore. The Redwood is currently one of the top spots in L.A., made even better by the lack of pretension and attitude.
