Meal on wheels: You may find it too irresistible, but trust us, a pastrami on rye is not advisable at 8:30 in the morning while navigating the 101-to-110 interchange. Eminently portable, the lox and cream sandwich on a bagel fits in the palm of your free, non-steering hand. With a large serving of heart-healthy grapefruit juice, your bubbie would approve.

Driving tip: Place your order at least five minutes in advance. Tell them the make and color of your car, your payment method and the estimated time of your arrival. Pull up in the designated spot out front (they’ve got cameras out there), and someone will appear with your order. Credit cards accepted, though not over the phone.
