The food was uneven and expensive, the service was poor and the place is WAY too noisy. They have a "no substitutions" menu policy which means "the customer is always wrong," and that's no way to run a restaurant. So if you have any food allergies, stay away. Good dishes shared by our party included the tomato soup, the succotash, the pizza, the sea bass and the fried green tomatoes. The forgettable dishes were a tasteless vegetable lasagne, a merely okay burger, and a pretty awful blueberry corn cake dessert. We had to ask to get our order taken, and the food didn't all come up at the same time. And we couldn't hear one another. A lot of the seating is at communal tables, which some people may have a problem with. All in all, there's no reason to go here when there are so many more reliable restaurants in the area.

Three things I love about Rustic Canyon. First, the chocolate bread pudding. A must have if you are in the Santa Monica area! While I was worried it might be too sweet, it's this perfect blend of flavors that just melts in your mouth. Second, great selection of wines. They had one of my favorites on hand -- Orin Swift's The Prisoner. Third, the service. The staff truly cares about its patrons and made sure that my entire party had an exquisite time. I will be back!
