Firefly Bistro

Most people only gather under big white tents to celebrate wedding receptions—or when eating at Firefly in South Pasadena. This large, canvas dining room adorned with grapevines, orange paper lanterns, and gauzy green chiffon evokes memories of past festivities. And even though recalling family gatherings makes some people break out in hives, they’re likely to brave it in order to enjoy the Southern-inflected international cuisine prepared by husband-wife team Monique King and Paul Rosenbluh. Dishes like the Grilled Chicken Breast in Ancho Chili-Chocolate Mole, Pecan Coated Catfish, Moroccan Braised Lamb, Shrimp and Grits, and Jerk Pork Tenderloin Kabobs use the same fresh local ingredients that are sold in the farmer’s market that’s held outside the tent on Thursdays from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
