Butter Tart
Butter Tart is peddling its namesake treat from Canada by way of the Philippines. The bite-size original butter tart is a soft pastry shell filled with warm butter and brown sugar. There's also a bacon butter tart and a version with bacon, egg and Parmesan. Other pastry temptations include “pop tarts” (empanadas filled with fruit and nuts), coffee cake, cherry pistachio scones and, yes, cupcakes.
