Bastide
This latest incarnation of Bastide is in the running to be L.A.’s most elegant restaurant. The chef, Walter Manzke, is not all that well known but we suspect that will soon change. The prix-fixe menus, with the option of wine pairings, manage to be quite playful, with deconstructed tacos, oyster shooters and chocolate milk all liable to show up at your table. The menu changes daily so each night presents a different experience—but each will be lovely.
