The Innovative Dining Group seems to be on a mission to spread robatayaki—a traditional Japanese style of grilling—throughout L.A. Younger sister to Katana in West Hollywood, Robata Bar is a new, casual grill joint in Santa Monica and it imports charcoal from Japan specially designed for the task. The menu consists of skewered meats, fish and vegetables, as well as a few sushi options. Sake and beer are the traditional accompaniments and one beer label, Red Sun, is made specifically for this restaurant group.
