The worst experience ever at a restaurant.

I’m still thinking about the horrible experience I had at this restaurant two days ago. I live right around the corner from Amarone. I was very excited to check out a new restaurant in my neighborhood. We walked in to Amarone without a reservation even though it was fairly busy. The host was very friendly and seated us right away. Things were looking good. The people beside us were very nice, locals, as well. We started by ordering a familiar bottle of wine from the wine list. The owner came over about 10 minutes after we ordered or wine, and said “we didn’t have it in stock, please order something else”. So we ordered a different wine, no problem. 30 minutes after our wine was open, they finally came back to take our entire order. After we put our order in, we got our appetizers, about 45 minutes or so into us sitting down. After an hour and half, the waiter came over and asked if we were ready for dessert? We said that we haven’t even received our entrée’s yet. He left and about 15 minutes later he came back and said what did you order? We told him what we ordered and he left. It was about 2 hours and 15 minutes after we had arrived that we finally got our entrée’s. My dinner date and I decided that we should just let the owner know that we had waited a very long time for our entrée’s. When the owner came over to our table, I politely said that we just wanted to let you know that our entrée’s were really late and they we had been there for almost two and half hours and we are just now receiving our entrée’s. He looked directly at us in a very condescending manner and said “What do you want me to do, get down on my hands and knees and apologize?” and he kept repeating it, and getting louder and louder. We both were in shock and embarrassed that he was yelling at us like that. After a brief talk we decided not to eat our entrée’s and just get up and leave but wanted to pay for our wine and appetizers and give something to the waiter. As we were trying to do so, the owner came running over to us, yelling at the top of his lungs “get out of my restaurant, leave now, get out, get out, get out.” His wait staff and chef’s were telling him to be quiet, and that he was out of line with us. Needless to say, we both walked out in a daze wondering if that just happened. We however had a wonderful rest of the night at ‘Il Sole’ up the street. Thanks to Crystal.

I have read on yelp.com that there are similar experiences at Amarone and the owner. So patrons beware and read the reviews.
