Before I moved out to LA, Via Veneto was recommended by a friend to try. Although it is a little on the expensive side, the food was delicious! There is minimal lighting so it makes the menus a little hard to read but perfect for an intimate dinner date. The staff could be a little nicer (and I am convinced some have fake Italian accents) but the overall experience was pleasant for me. Although I would not eat here regularly due to price, it is my go-to spot for a cute dinner date.

RUDE MANAGER AND OTHER WAITSTAFF

After waiting 15 minutes to be seated along with 2 friends, we came only for dessert and wine and told that to the waiter. We ordered our (very expensive for 3 college students) desserts and wine to only be asked to leave 5 minutes later because our order was too small and they did not want to waste their time on customers who did not meet their requirements, but were told that the $6 water was "on the house". That was a little embarassing in itself, but we decided it wasn't worth it anyway and got up to leave. Upon leaving, we were chased out by another waiter who decided it was his mission to yell at us in the middle of the streets of Santa Monica and demanded payment for the water we had barely touched. He called us "rude" and asked us who would be paying for it. Overall, embarassing and awkward to be treated like that by strangers. Even when I do have money someday, I would never never ever spend it there. THIS PLACE DOES NOT CARE FOR THE INDIVIDUAL CUSTOMER. THEY ARE RUDE, PUSHY, AND ALL ABOUT THE MONEY AT THE END. I have worked in the restaurant business and whatever the customer wanted (within reason) was given. You do not act rudely to people and expect them to want to ever go back or to encourage anyone else to ever dine there. It was embarassing.
