Located in the Malibu Country Mart, this casual cousin of Matsuhisa in Beverly Hills serves the same inspired sushi and innovative cooked dishes. Delicately carved seafood gets amped up with Western flavors such as butter, olive oil, garlic and hot peppers, reflecting the time the chef spent living in Peru and Argentina. The olive oil must have scored big with Robert De Niro—the actor co-financed the opening of the very first Nobu in New York.

Wound up just getting appetizers and drinks. Really cool Malibu locale, though the food was a bit on the pricey side. One plus...the purista mojitos!
